Having liked the process of putting a collection of tunes in to an entity, an album with original material, I began working on the next one. I was searching for an outlet, a concept for my creativity. So, I went ahead with “Blues Rocker”. I wanted this one to have real instruments, no loops, no fancy tricks, just good old fashioned playing. The title refers to how this style of playing can fit in to different variations that fall under the “rhythm and blues” umbrella: a heavy rock track, a rock ‘n’ roll one, then a ballad, an acoustic, a funky one and a grindy, folky Neil Young type of tune, all of these somehow make the ideal “blues rocker”. Kind of silly but this is how I thought of it. The title track plays with the notion that apart from a person who likes and prefers blues rock music, a “blues rocker” can also be someone who is “rocking the blues away” with his/her beliefs and choices. Most of the tunes were written and recorded in 2016. They were remixed and remastered in 2019. “Homage” is for Malcolm Young. What would we ever do without him?
